Why Should You Support the YVHS Music Department?

We believe that music education is at the very heart of our students’ education and must be part of the curriculum available to all students. The Yucca Valley High School Music Department is an award-winning organization that travels, performs and competes both nationally and throughout Southern California. We have a large and hard-working group of talented students who are passionate about music.  These students will develop skills and habits that will stay with them their entire lives: disciplineteamwork, and leadership.  These young adults will become our future leaders!  Studies show that children involved in music excel at school, and the benefits of the music program continue far beyond graduation.  In fact, Drs. Rena Upitis and Katharine Smithrim assert that “90% of parents report that the arts motivated their kids to learn.”  Our students share a passion for performing and strive for excellence.

  • Perform for nearly 10,000 people each year
  • Participate in community events and school functions
  • Compete in marching band, jazz band, and choir competitions nationally and throughout Southern California
  • Provide musical support for various athletic events on campus
  • Provide instructors, clinicians, and specialists to work with students in a group and individual setting
  • Meet our annual operating budget of nearly $40,000

What does the Music Department need?

  • Flutes: $1,400 each
  • Piccolos: $1,100 each
  • Alto Saxophones: $2,200 each
  • Tenor Saxophones: $2,600 each
  • Baritone Saxophones: $5,200 each
  • Concert Baritones: $2,200 each
  • Marching Baritones: $2,500 each
  • Concert French Horn: $2,900 each
  • Marching Mellophone: $1,400 each
  • ​Coaches/Clinicians/Artists: $8,000 annually
  • Food/Drink/Snack donations: $2,000 annually
  • Instrument repair/maintenance: $7,500 annually

Bronze — $200 lump sum or $20/month for 12 months

  • Reduced admission price (no VIP seating) for “Evening of Jazz” Dinner Show
  • *Free admission and VIP seating to our “Evening of Jazz” Dinner Show does not apply to Bronze level sponsorship
